Robert G. Vogel

Robert G. Vogel, a native of St. Marys, is a member of the St. Marys Memorial High School Class of 2000. Mr. Vogel has distinguished himself as an outstanding athlete and a professional in three disciplines of practical /combat shooting.

Raised on a farm where he learned the values of hard work and discipline, from a very young age Robert had an interest in shooting, hunting, and the outdoors. After graduating from Memorial High School, Robert attended Rhodes State College, and graduated in 2002 with an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. He was valedictorian of his Police Academy Class. It was during this time Robert began shooting competitively in Practical Shooting Competitions. Professionally, Robert worked in law enforcement as a full-time police officer for more than eight years. The success of his competitive shooting career eventually led him to reduce his law enforcement work to part-time status.

In competitive shooting, Robert G. Vogel is a three-time World Champion and twenty-four-time National Champion. His titles span across three disciplines of practical / combat shooting, which include the International Practical Shooting Confederation (I.P.S.C.), the International Defensive Pistol Association (I.D.P.A.), and the United States Practical Shooting Association (U.S.P.S.A.). Mr. Vogel is the first law enforcement officer of any kind to win a U.S.P.S.A. Handgun National Championship. He is the only person to have won the Open Professional Division at the National Level Pro Am Match with an iron sighted limited division pistol. In the I.D.P.A. he is the only person to have won a National Championship in all three auto pistol divisions, making him the only person to achieve the rank of three-time Distinguished Master. Robert is also a four-time member of the USA Men's I.P.S.C. Gold Team, which competed in world championship events in Florida, Indonesia, and France, and won one in Greece. To date, Robert has accumulated more than one hundred major match wins at the state, national, and international levels.

However, competition is not the only place Robert has excelled in his field. He has been featured in three commercial gun instructional videos. Robert conducts classes throughout the United States and all over the world. He has also been invited to train Special Forces personnel for the United States Military. He has written many articles for nationally publicized gun magazines. Mr. Vogel has been a featured guest expert on the History Channel's show "Top Shot." Robert has developed the Vogel Competition Trigger System for Glock Triggers. He is the instructor on many short instructional videos. For his legions of fans across the globe, his advice for success is to be smart and to be disciplined. There are, no doubt, more successes to come in Robert's story. His continued successes and works can be followed at www.vogeldynamics.com.

For his outstanding and superior athletic achievement at the professional level and for being a positive role model for the proper exercise of one of America's founding rights, the Second Amendment right to bear arms, the St. Marys Memorial High School Alumni Foundation inducts Robert G. Vogel into the St. Marys Memorial High School Alumni Foundation Hall of Fame for Athletic Achievement.
