Dominic Guarnieri

Dominic Guarnieri was born and raised in St. Marys, Ohio, the son of ‘Big Ralph” Guarnieri, the long - time radio announcer who was dubbed the, “Voice of Roughrider Football.” He graduated from St. Marys Memorial High School in the Class 2001. He was a three - time letter winner in golf and was twice named All – Western Buckeye League in golf.


Dominic was a four - year letter winner in Men’s Golf for the University of Findlay Oilers from 2001 – 2005. In 2005, he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio, with a double major in Business Management and Operations and Logistics and a Minor in Human Resources. From 2005 – 2007, Dominic served as a graduate assistant coach for both the Men’s and Women’s Golf programs at the University of Findlay under Head Coach Al Baker. In 2007, he earned his Master’s Degree in Business with an emphasis in Organizational Leadership.


Dominic returned to St. Marys Memorial High School to serve as the Assistant Boys’ Golf Coach for the 2007 – 2008 season. He then served as the Head Boys’ Golf Coach for the Roughriders for two seasons from 2008 – 2010. In his second season, Coach Guarnieri led the Roughrider Boys’ Golf Team to their only Western Buckeye League tournament win in school history. In the meantime, he played competitively himself, winning the 2010 and 2012 Mercer County Elks Club Championship and the 2011 Findlay Country Club Championship. In 2011, Dominic was named the Toledo District Golf Association (TDGA) Player of the Year.


In 2012-2013, Dominic served as an Assistant Coach for the Men’s and Women’s Golf programs at the University of Findlay, once again under Head Coach Al Baker. Coach Baker retired after the 2012 – 2013 season and, in July 2013, Dominic was named the Head Coach of the University of Findlay Oilers Men’s and Women’s Golf Teams. He is currently in his tenth season as Head Coach. Under his direction, the Men’s and Women’s Golf Teams at the University of Findlay have enjoyed unprecedented success.


In 2017, the Oilers Women’s Golf Team won the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship. In 2018, 2019, and 2022, the Oilers Women’s Golf Team won the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championship. Coach Guarnieri led the Findlay Women’s Golf Teams to six top – 10 finishes at the NCAA Division II Championships. This was highlighted by the perfect eight – for - eight record capped with the NCAA Women’s Division II National Championship in 2022.


As the University of Findlay’s Women’s Golf Coach, Dominic has been named Women’s Golf East Region Coach of the Year in 2019 and 2022. He has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Coach of the Year four times in 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022. He has been named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Coach of the Year twice in 2015 and 2017. For the 2022 National Championship season, Coach Guarnieri was named 2022 NCAA Division II Jackie Steinmann Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) National Coach of the Year.


Individually, University of Findlay women’s golfers have also experienced great success under Coach Guarnieri’s direction. There have been four Great Midwest Athletic Conference Golfer of the Year Awards and one Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Golfer of the Year Award. There have also been 11 All – American, 21 All – Region, and 35 All – Conference Players.


The University of Findlay Oilers Men’s Golf have also enjoyed unparalleled success. In 2018, they captured the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship and Coach Guarnieri was named the 2018 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. In 2022, the University of Findlay Men’s Golf program reached new heights as they made the their first – ever appearance in the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament. Individually, one men’s golfer has been named as an All – American, two were named All – Region, and 15 were named All – Conference Players.



For his individual success in Golf in high school, college, and individually as a competitive player, for his high school and collegiate successes as the Head Coach of the University of Findlay Oilers, and for his team and individual player’s successes including winning the first ever NCAA Division II Championship in Women’s Golf for the University of Findlay, and for inspiring many young golfers for two decades, the St. Marys Memorial High School Alumni Foundation inducts Dominic Guarnieri into the St. Marys Memorial High School Alumni Foundation Hall of Fame for Athletic Achievement.
